Someone asked me today about the Kieden acquisition made by SalesForce.com

Just to clarify:

SalesForce.com is a Customer Relationship Management company that produces CRM on-demand solutions.

Kieden has a service that they have now called Salesforce for Google AdWords (click here to learn more), and this lets people launch a Google AdWords advertising campaign from a Salesforce.com application. Apparently this service will cost $300 per company per month.

The service allows marketing and advertising managers to analyze ongoing campaigns by viewing which people who click on Google AdWords keywords become sales leads. It compiles information, such the amount of sales resulting from Google AdWord clicks and presents it in charts and a dashboard-like interface.

The problem is trying to get information from Google AdWords to knowing who the customer is, this can be kind of a difficult thing, because you tend to lose the link between CRM (customer relationship management) and Google ads

I can see this service being more used in a B2B rather than on a B2C kind of environment, companies selling to the general public, might not benefit too much from this if they don’t have to many repeat visitors or purchasers, it is the companies that have a consulting type of sales process, where more than one contact is needed for a sale, (ie. phone equipment, big software applications, etc) are the ones that will benefit most from this product, but i will definitely look more into it and evaluate whether there is any real opportunies and blog back.

You can also find more about this here and a short but informative  interactive presentation here
